As a young child she was 'lively' and tired everyone out! At school she enjoyed PE in all its forms and went on to PE college where she was voted head student. After qualifying she worked with the Youth Clubs in Belfast. She married and moved to England where she worked in a boarding school as a PE teacher for 30years, she became the school counsellor. She became involved with Corrymeela, a community in Northern Ireland working to support reconciliation and Peace, and she contributed to fund raising and by her active involvement in the summer programme for 20years. After her diagnosis of MS she was unable to continue with PE and in her early 50s was condemed. She went on to teach RE for a few years which allowed her to explore her faith, having been brought up a Presbyterian she had become a Quaker and was lucky enough to find a Church of England Reverand who would put up with her! She tried many therapies none of which had much effect, she accepted the inevitable with a degree of anger. For the last 8 years she has lived with her daughters in Cardiff, and felt that she had come home, Wales being so like Ireland in its weather, mountains, valleys and hills. Her great sadness was not being able to play with her grandchildren, but she enjoyed watching them.
